Meet Colm

Veteran. Sailor. Seeker of Stillness.

Colm Walker is a dual citizen of the United States and Ireland, an Airborne Ranger and combat veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division, and a lifelong waterman whose journey to the Golden Globe Race is as much inward as it is around the world.

Having led soldiers in Afghanistan and later executives in boardrooms, Colm’s path took an unexpected and transformative turn through psychedelic-assisted therapy for PTSD. That healing redirected his life toward simplicity, service, and the search for meaning beyond the material world.

Today, Colm lives aboard his classic Tayana 37 cutter Mo Chuisle (“My Pulse” in Irish), which he is restoring by hand for the 2026 Golden Globe Race. He sails in support of veteran mental health, raising awareness for those still fighting unseen battles long after the guns have gone quiet.

Colm is no stranger to the sea. He has crossed oceans, competed in international regattas, and sailed boats across the Caribbean, Atlantic, and Pacific. But it is the solitude of the southern oceans—and the discipline of traditional navigation—that now call him forward.

For Colm, the Golden Globe Race is not an escape from life, but a commitment to it. It is a test of self-reliance, resilience, and surrender. A chance to show that stillness can be strength, and that sometimes, the way forward is to go alone.
